Application Rates

Individual Trees: For individual trees and areas 1 acre or less, place one 1000 mg dispensers on opposite sides of each tree. For trees larger than 24 inches dbh, place two 1000mg dispensers per tree equidistantly around the bole at a height easy to reach (i.e. 6-8 feet).

Tree stands less than 2 acres: Place dispensers evenly around the perimeter of the treated area. Space the dispensers approximately 30 feet apart. This will result in a dose close to 15 dispensers/acre.

Tree stands more than 2 acres: Rate of application is 15-20 dispensers per acre. Place the dispensers in a grid pattern about 35-40 feet apart. Dispensers are usually placed on a tree, but if there are breaks in the tree stand, dispensers can be placed on fence posts, snags, shrubs or other objects such as stumps or logs as low as 1-2 feet above the ground to maintain proper spacing for the treatment area. Place at a height that applicators can easily reach (i.e. 6-8 feet).

For best results when using this product, remove and destroy all beetle-infested trees in treatment area before application.
In most cases 20 dispensers/acre (36/hectare) is sufficient. However, if it is deemed necessary to increase the number of dispensers, 40 dispensers/acre (125/hectare) is the maximum dose. Use a second treatment as needed. Re-treat each year when Douglas-fir beetle infestations are likely.

Because there are many considerations when using this product (population densities, proximity, size and rate of growth of an infestation, stand age and compositions, elevation, climate, local weather) inexperienced users are advised to consult a professional forest entomologist or their State Forestry Agency for guidance. Monitor for infestations by visual inspection of the tree trunks.
